Congratulations to Macavity Award Nominees

We're thrilled to celebrate two of our incredible Outliers Writing University instructors, Hank Phillippi Ryan and James L'Etoile, who have both been nominated for the 2026 Macavity Award for Best Mystery Novel!

Hank earned her nomination for All This Could Be Yours, while James was recognized for River of Lies—an outstanding achievement in one of mystery fiction's most respected awards.

Presented annually by Mystery Readers International, the Macavity Awards honor excellence in mystery writing and are nominated and voted on by members of the mystery reading community. Named after the famous "Mystery Cat" from T.S. Eliot's poetry, the awards have recognized many of the genre's most celebrated authors over the years.

At Outliers Writing University, we're honored to learn from authors who are not only exceptional teachers but are also producing award-worthy work at the highest level of the craft.
