This course focuses on how to incorporate real life elements of law enforcement, private detective, military, private sector executive protection, first responders and investigations into thriller fiction. In writing in these thriller fields, you don't have to be an expert in them, but you do have to know enough about the fields to make the story believable, honest and consistent. We also spend a significant portion of the course discussing the unique area of firearms. Firearms are an essential component of many thriller and mystery books, but many authors miss minor details that rip the reader out of the story. We will cover:
Blending the familiar and the strange
James Bond vs. Indiana Jones
Training vs. instant prodigy
Private Investigations
Surveillance and counter-surveillance
Executive Protection
Hand to hand fighting
Physiology and injury
Firearms
Legal issues
