Contingency propels narratives, keeps them believable, helps to align reader expectations with what is occurring, and keeps readers in the story. In this seminar, you’ll learn specific ways to tap into the contingent aspects of fiction to avoid coincidences, chance, and occurrences of deus ex machina, all while maintaining believability, escalation, and forward narrative progression.

Steven James is a critically acclaimed author of nineteen novels and numerous nonfiction books that have sold more than 1 million copies. He is also a popular keynote speaker and professional storyteller with a master's degree in storytelling.
